Liam Ball
The 34th installment of the Liam Ball Triathlon will take place on Sunday 5th May 2019. This is one of Irelands oldest triathlons and its also one of the most popular. The race is a perfect for everyone from a complete beginner trying triathlon for the first time or seasoned triathletes looking for a fast course. The Liam Ball consists of a 750m pool swim, a 20km bike and a 5km run.

For the first time this year the club will be holding a Try a Tri alongside the Liam Ball for people to try out triahlon. The distances will be 300m swim (12 lengths), 8km Cycle and a 2.5km Run. This is a great opportunity to get a taste of what triathlon is all about. The Try a tri will be on the same course as the Liam Ball but with an earlier turning point on the bike and 1 lap of the run course.

The swim is a pool swim of 30 lengths. There will be wave starts based on estimated swim times. This ensures you'll be in the pool with people of similar ability.

Cycle Course

From transition the bike is a straight out and back course. Starting from outside the complex head straight out along the buncrana rd to the bridge end roundabout. Continue straight on to the N13 towards Letterkenny keep following the road to the turnaround point and then its back to the complex the way you came.

Run Course

The run is a 2 lap course. From transition its out of the complex via the main entrance and towards bracken park and onto the greenway. Out as far as the marshall where you will be directed back to the complex.
